Project Description: Contemporary Country Garden

A recently built executive home built using traditional coursed stone was built on the site of an old dairy farm, although the client had worked the garden and had cut in borders each side and at the bottom of the garden, it was felt that the garden was exposed to the elements however the garden affords excellent views towards Rockingham Castle which were not be interrupted from the main body of the garden.

The clients brief required a contemporary design offset with country garden style planting that was reinforced with blocks of Buxus, clipped forms and Lavender hedge. New raised planters and a larger terrace were required with a sunken area to provide shelter from the wind and a feature wall placed off to one side to help provide shelter, the feature wall was to be fitted with a Gel burner to provide some warmth on chilly summer evenings.

To provide shade from the scorching sun a Pergola with a moveable shade screen was required, this was to be placed over the sunken garden area. A new Cedar slatted fence was to be built alongside the seating area this was to provide additional privacy. After construction, the planting was then completed by the client to their own plan and taste.

Turn Your Dream Into A Reality

Gardens are never finished they change with the seasons and plants continue to grow and change. A garden design will provide you with the ultimate concept to work towards, however not all gardens can be afforded in one go, so to complete the final garden may take several years, this will be dependent on your budget and time frame.

It is, however, possible to have a garden designed so that it can be built by the contractor in phases. In this way, a section can be completed and enjoyed, whilst the next phase is completed sometime in the near future.
