Project Description:
An existing 3-acre derelict site backing onto the former "Stewart and Lloyds Ltd" Ironstone quarry with an existing brick dwelling on a long and narrow site adjacent to Stamford Road, backing onto a fenced off area of young fir tree woodland planted between the quarry pits. The soil has a heavy clay infill which becomes waterlogged in winter and will require extensive drainage. Electricity pylons junction boxes and a substation are also situated on the site.
With over 300 metres of A43 (Stamford Road) frontage. Planning permission was originally in place for petrol filling station, restaurant and hotel. The site will further benefit soon from the completion of the new southern gateway road by increasing passing traffic.
Planning permission was also sought for several businesses to use the site, one of which shown here was to become a garden centre with stockyard, car parking, display area and redevelopment of the former dwelling into a shop and offices.
The site has now been sold and is likely to be developed into housing.
