Project Description:

One of the largest and most successful schemes for national house builders Canon and Kirk, who began building Highfields near Littleport in 2005. which is now a thriving and very popular neighbourhood in the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens. Young first-time buyers, families with children, empty nesters and single people will all find their perfect home amongst the wide range of house types on offer at Highfields. Both Beautifully and practically built, these homes are designed to suit everyone's lifestyle and offer excellent value for money.

Highfield's Farm is a village style extension to the Fenland town of Littleport, which is situated six miles to the east of Ely in Eastern Cambridgeshire. A key requirement to give priority to pedestrian users, creating safe ‘green routes’ throughout the entire development.

Within the 650 house development, there are well-defined neighbourhoods, with each neighbourhood having a group of feature buildings provided within it, which set the theme and sense of place for each area. A vocabulary of local vernacular details was carefully chosen for the housing stock. And in order to complement the variety of the streetscape, the architect's design team developed 30 new house types which are unique to this development. Flats, houses, modern apartments and townhouses all help to deliver an exciting and varied streetscape.

Where possible existing mature trees were preserved these were complimented with additional mature nursery stock, trees shrubs hedging and turfing compliment the varied housing, in public open spaces and in the streetscape. Show gardens were designed and built to aid initial sales and provide a sense of maturity.
