Victorian Front Garden

Victorian Front Garden

Address: Church Lane, Upper Dean, Huntingdonshire

Client: Mrs. Ruth H

Status: Completed 2017

Project Description:

Built on the site of an old Malting and Ale brewery, this late Victorian property is set in beautiful surroundings adjacent the to the River Til. The client required an informal garden with a light touch, the existing layout was left mostly as was but with new driveway and pedestrian gates, new borders and path leading to the front door, along with raised sleeper beds adjacent to the brook, the existing gravel drive was left generally untouched with the exception of a granite driveway splay under the drive gates.

It was requested that the garden should be designed and built in an old 'English Country Garden' style and to be in keeping with the house a lawn was to be retained along with the Lavender hedge to the front of the house. Planting was generally designed to incorporate shade tolerant herbaceous plants, evergreen shrubs, grasses, ferns and bulbs. Clipped box balls were planted to help provide structure in the herbaceous planting.

A grafted Wisteria chinensis was planted on the side of the house and trained onto a wire frame

Turn Your Dream Into A Reality

Gardens are never finished they change with the seasons and plants continue to grow and change. A garden design will provide you with the ultimate concept to work towards, however not all gardens can be afforded in one go, so to complete the final garden may take several years, this will be dependent on your budget and time frame.

It is, however, possible to have a garden designed so that it can be built by the contractor in phases. In this way, a section can be completed and enjoyed, whilst the next phase is completed sometime in the near future.
